Who issues your permit depends on where the property is. Inside the City of Los Angeles, building permits come from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). Other cities in the county, such as Long Beach, Pasadena, Glendale or Downey, run their own building departments. Properties in unincorporated LA County go through LA County Building and Safety.
We confirm the right agency for your address during the estimate, and we handle the permits and inspections for the work we build.

Who issues building permits for my LA project?
Inside the City of Los Angeles it is LADBS (Department of Building and Safety). Other cities in LA County have their own building departments, and unincorporated areas go through LA County Building and Safety. We confirm the agency for your address and handle permits for the work we build.
Can I build an ADU on my lot in Los Angeles?
Many single-family and multifamily lots in Los Angeles can add an ADU or junior ADU under California law, but setbacks, utilities, easements and fire or hillside rules can affect what fits. We look at your lot during the walk-through. See our ADU page.
